We met up on a rainy Sunday morning in Neerim South Main Street. A short stop at the Bakery and we were off to try a couple of tracks on our way to the Falls. All on our usual road tyres we headed up one of the LV Tracks. Not very far along Steve radioed back that he was stopped and stuck. Wally was also letting some air out behind us. After a short winch and a few good goes Steve turned the Shorty around and headed back towards where we were parked. It seemed even the motorbikes were getting stuck up further. Wally was in for a try but didn’t even make it to where Steve had been on his really road tyres. Rob was next and with a little of that right foot action he managed to make it to the top. Coming down again was heaps scarier, there was a lot of the sideway slippy action with no control (at least that’s how it felt) we all turned around and headed for the falls via plan “B” the road.
Morning Tea and a bit of birthday cake for Sharon then we walked the 1.5km round trip to the falls. The walk is well worth it especially during winter. The forestry has built a groovy platform since we last went and now you can get right out near the falls.
Back at the car park and it was time for lunch so off to the Tool shed Pub. A great place for a good Pub meal at good prices. Sunday can be very busy so make sure you’re early. After a couple of yarns over lunch we left the warm Pub for the drizzly Trestle Bridge. Trish’s boys had a great time trying to climb the muddy hill while we shared a few more yarns before heading home.
Another great day in the bush with good people.
Till next time Danni
