Trip Report

Pre Christmas @ Gembrook

Dec 2001

Mick Inglis - Bugger
Neil Hemmington - Smurf
Dave Ryrie - GQ
Rod Young - 60 series
Daryl Peacock - Bronc
Pauline + Rowan - Maverick

Met at the Gembrook Station and headed to Mortimer Reserve to deflate tyres before going for a play.

We then followed a zigzag path up and down the ridge ,but eventually ended up at Rutted track. It was noted that there are quite a few tracks closed to public access along the Gembrook Tonimbuk road. Dave had the only stuff up for the morning when he hit a tree in Rutted Track whilst trying to get enough swing to clear an obstacle.

As it was drawing close to lunch we headed to Dyers creek, where just as we set up a group of dirt bikes arrived and ,disgusted they didn't have the forest to themselves soon departed.

Rowan had the story of arriving at Dyers Creek early one morning and surprising a topless girl who had camped there overnight, He quickly informed Neil on the radio but by the time he arrived on site she was fully clothed . Bad luck Neil!

After lunch the group headed to Gentle Annie. The track up was a bit greasy and some fun was had on the rocks heading down from the top, hopefully the webpage will have a little footage of this soon. The Bronc handled these rocks without any trouble ( a bit of wobble , but no trouble). It's 33's carrying it over the worst. Everyone else had 31's but still no great drama's where encountered.

A lone biker was going up the rocks the same time as we where heading down and there wasn't much room to get past . Hence when Daryl got back to his car for his turn down the rocks his mirrors were folded flat( Bargearse Bronco).

Dave's Patrol bellied in some ruts on Sunset track and with some rocking and a bit of grunting from our President. It began to dig itself clear. As the day was nearing its end , The eastern suburbs people heaed home via Gladysdale. Mick and Dave farewelled them and listened to them fade from radio range. As Mick led the way back to Gembrook the radio signal from the others started to get stronger again. A quick check of the map showed we had missed the turnoff for Gembrook and we were now 2 minutes ahead of the others on the same road.

A fun pre Christmas trip.

Only damage was a kink in a bullbar from hitting a tree.
