Anzac Day Drive

ANZAC Day 25th April 2007

Stewy and Lisa - Beaute ute   Steve & Tamie Clough with Peter & Sonja - the Bling Bling GU
Stomin Norm - Jeep                  Dion and Friends arrived in a Gu Wagon and a Ford Explorer

We left the Explorer down the bottom of Rocky Track put the occupants in Dion's GU and the rest of the trucks drove to the top of Rocky Track, only to have my truck start to smell of coolant and begin to run warm.  After a bit of investigation Stewy discovered a small hole in one of the heater hoses. I reckon one track Stew had jinxed me and the Bushpig.

After a bit of begging and borrowing from some other mates in the area we managed to obtain some 5/8 heater hose and 9lt of water. Stewy completed the repair in no time. We all had lunch and continued on our merry way.

We have now discovered that about 90% of Toolangi has been graded and a Subaru Outback wouldn't feel challenged on these tracks.  After a while we managed to find one or two interesting tracks which we all struggled to get up but after one or two different lines made it to the top successfully with no winching!

One track we left Dion to do a loop and meet us at the top of the track as he didn't have a winch and should he have gotten stuck it would be a very hard retrieval.  Unfortunately Dion didn't find the top of the track and we managed to lose him and his crew - but after an hour of looking for him we managed to contact him by phone and he had made his way out safely to Yarra Glen.

By this stage it was starting to get dark so we called it a day and met Dion and crew back at Yarra Glen.  All in all good day had buy all just a bit disappointed on the lack of challenging tracks out in Toolangi at the moment.
